DChatGPT Dots setup guide

What you need:

• ChatGPT Pro (18+, outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), a Business Premium seat, or an Enterprise workspace where your admin turned on the beta.
• The ChatGPT desktop app, a desktop browser, or the latest ChatGPT mobile app. Dots don't work on mobile web.

Step-by-step setup:

1. Find Dots. Open chatgpt.com/dots. Access may take several days to reach your account.
2. Create your dot. Follow the onboarding prompts on desktop or in the mobile app.
3. Name it. Its handle starts as @yourname-dot. Pick a character or pet.
4. Connect apps. On mobile: your dot's profile → Customize → Plugins. Read each app's permissions before connecting.
5. Set custom rules. Customize → Custom rules (on mobile). Review the defaults before adding your own.
6. Leave your own computer off. Local computer access starts off. Only turn it on in the desktop app if you need it.
7. Set up Slack or texting from desktop, if you want them.

First-run checklist:

• ☐ I connected only 1–2 apps to start.
• ☐ I checked each app's allowed actions (read vs change vs send).
• ☐ Custom rules: sending and purchases set to Ask before taking action.
• ☐ Local computer access is still off.
• ☐ I know how to Pause my dot (••• menu in its profile).
• ☐ My first task was read-only.
