Beginner track · Meta (Meta Superintelligence Labs).

What is
Muse?
Muse is Meta's personal AI agent. You message it like a person, and it does digital tasks for you. Meta says it can send emails, book travel, and even help sell a car.
Muse runs in its own "Secure VM," a private virtual computer for each user. You can use it in the Muse app (iPhone and Android), at muse.ai, and inside WhatsApp. There's also a Mac app. Meta says AI glasses support is coming soon.
Key strengths
- Free to start. Muse has a free plan with a usage limit that refreshes.
- Already where you chat. Message it in its app, on the web, or in WhatsApp.
- Does real tasks. Meta and Wired describe emails, travel booking, purchases, and selling items.
- Fine-grained approvals. Five approval choices plus per-connector and per-website settings.
- Safer payments. Purchases use single-use card numbers through Stripe Link, per Wired.
- Reminders and recurring tasks. One-time, location-based, daily, weekly, or custom schedules.
Best use cases
| Use case | Who it's for | Why Muse fits |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Daily email and calendar summary | Busy parents, workers | Gmail and calendar connectors; reminders |
| 2. Trip planning with approval to book | Travelers | Meta names travel booking as a use |
| 3. Recurring reminders and check-ins | Everyone | Built-in scheduled tasks |
| 4. Marketplace selling, done safely | Casual sellers | Facebook connects automatically; strict approvals needed |
| 5. Price comparison before buying | Shoppers | Browses sites; checks with you before purchases |
How-to guides
1. How to get a daily email and calendar summary
Who it's for: Anyone who wants one morning message instead of three apps.
Steps:
- Open Muse.
- Say "Connect my Gmail," or go to Settings → Connectors.
- Connect your calendar the same way.
- Set both connectors to Always ask in Settings → Permissions.
- Ask for a summary now to test it.
- Then ask Muse to send it every morning.
Copy-paste prompts:
Summarize my unread emails from the last 24 hours and today's calendar. Put anything that needs a reply at the top. Don't send or change anything.
Every weekday at 7 AM, send me that same summary here.
Pro tip: Meta says connecting email lets Muse search it, but it won't download your whole inbox unless you ask.
Common mistake: Letting it reply on its own. Keep sending on "Allow once."
2. How to plan a trip and approve the booking
Who it's for: Travelers and families planning a getaway.
Steps:
- Tell Muse your dates, budget, and must-haves.
- Ask for 3 options with prices and links.
- Pick one.
- Ask Muse to start the booking.
- Tap See task details on the approval.
- Approve with Allow once.
Copy-paste prompts:
Find 3 round-trip flight options from Chicago to Denver, leaving Nov 20 and returning Nov 24, under $400 each. Show airline, times, price, and baggage fees. Don't book anything yet.
Book option 2. Ask me before you pay, and show me the total with fees.
Pro tip: Ask for the final total before approving. Fees often change at checkout.
Common mistake: Tapping "Always allow" on payments. You lose the chance to check each one.
3. How to set up recurring reminders
Who it's for: Anyone who forgets the small stuff.
Steps:
- Tell Muse what to remind you about and when.
- Say how often it repeats.
- Check it under your assistant icon → Upcoming.
- Change or cancel it by asking in chat.
Copy-paste prompts:
Every Monday at 9 AM, remind me to submit my timesheet.
Remind me to buy milk when I'm near the grocery store on Main Street.
Pro tip: Reminders use your time zone. Recurring tasks keep going until you cancel them.
Common mistake: Making a reminder for a time that already passed. Muse will tell you and suggest another time.
4. How to sell on Marketplace without the risk
Who it's for: People selling a couch, bike, or old phone.
Steps:
- Open Settings → Permissions and set your Facebook connector to Always ask.
- Tell Muse the item, your lowest price, and a public pickup spot.
- Don't give your home address.
- Ask Muse to draft replies, not send them.
- Approve each message with Allow once.
- Accept offers yourself.
Copy-paste prompts:
Help me reply to Marketplace messages about my bike. Lowest price is $150. Pickup is at the police station lobby on 5th Street. Never share my address or phone number. Draft each reply and wait for me to approve it.
Show me every offer so far. Don't accept any.
Pro tip: Test with a cheap item first.
Common mistake: Tapping "Always allow" for messages. That's what caused the reported address leak.
Free vs paid: which
Muse plan should you get?
US monthly prices from Meta's help center, checked October 14, 2026.
| Plan | Price | Weekly allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Usage-limited; refreshes over time |
| Power | $20/month | 500 million "Muse tokens" per week |
| Maximum | $100/month | 3 billion "Muse tokens" per week |
Notes:
- Subscribe in the Muse mobile app or at muse.ai with your Meta account. You must be 18+ and in a country where Muse is available.
- Plans renew monthly until you cancel. Meta says benefits may vary by region and account.
- Meta doesn't explain how many tasks a "Muse token" buys. Watch your usage for a week before upgrading.
When is upgrading worth it?
- Stay Free while you learn. Start with low-risk tasks, as Meta suggests.
- Get Power ($20) if you hit the free limit often on tasks that save you real time.
- Get Maximum ($100) only if you run many recurring tasks every day.
Limitations, and when to use a different agent
- US and Canada only (reported). Outside those countries, see Hermes Agent (works anywhere you can run it) or Grok Bot.
- Safety still depends on you. Meta says no automated system is perfect.
- Some sites block it. Amazon reportedly blocks Muse.
- Want an agent for team work in Slack? Dots (ChatGPT Pro) or Grok Bot.
- Just want a free chat helper inside WhatsApp? Meta AI is simpler.
FAQ
Is Muse free? Yes. Muse has a free plan with a usage limit. Paid plans are Power ($20/month) and Maximum ($100/month), with bigger weekly allowances.
Is Muse safe? It has strong safety design, like a separate virtual computer and approval prompts. But there have been incidents, including a reported address leak after a user tapped "Allow Always." Keep permissions on "Always ask" and use "Allow once" for anything that sends or buys.
Why can't I get Muse in my country? Meta says Muse is in limited testing and not available everywhere. As of October 2026, reports say it's only in the US and Canada.
Muse vs Meta AI: what's the difference? Meta AI is the free chat assistant in WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. Muse is a separate personal agent that takes actions for you, like booking and buying, with its own app and plans.
Is this the same as Unity Muse, Muse Code, or the band Muse? No. This page covers Muse from Meta, the personal agent at muse.ai. Unity Muse is a game-making tool. Muse Code is Meta's separate coding tool. Muse is also a British rock band. Older search results may also mention a video-hosting service called muse.ai.
