Claude Duet for Beginners: The Complete Track

Claude Duet is a research preview. As of late October, Anthropic says US Claude Pro and Max users can join a waitlist. It is not a free product, and it is not the same as regular Claude chat or Cowork.

This page is a full beginner track. Each part can stand alone as its own web page and video. Read the safety section before you let Duet send, pay, or delete anything.

What is Claude Duet?

Claude Duet is Anthropic's proactive personal agent. You talk to it in one ongoing thread (type or voice), and it works in the background on a cloud virtual machine with its own browser. Your laptop or phone does not need to stay on.

Anthropic says Duet is built around Claude Opus 5.5, aimed at professionals and small-business owners. It can:

• Send you a morning brief across connected apps
• Watch apps and messages and nudge you only when something needs you
• Draft and prepare work on its own, then ask before it sends, pays, signs, or deletes
• Reuse your existing Claude memory, skills, and connected apps

It ships as a standalone iOS and Android app, and on claude.ai. For now it is separate from the main Claude chat app.

Who can get Claude Duet?

CheckingPrimary official pages are claude.com and support.claude.com; we did not find a matching anthropic.com/news post. That is a documentation caveat, not a product-fact error.

2. Proactive brief. Morning overview across the apps you connect.

1. Join the Duet waitlist on a US Pro or Max account when offered.
2. Open the Duet app or Duet on claude.ai.

4. Ask for a brief now to test it.
5. Ask Duet to send that brief every weekday morning.

1. Connect only the inbox you want Duet to see.
2. Ask for drafts, not sends.
3. When Duet asks to send, read the full draft.
4. Approve only that send.

Limitations, and when to use a different agent

• Waitlist / US Pro/Max only for now. Elsewhere, see Hermes, Grok Bot, or stay on Claude chat.
• Errands are weaker than work tasks. For Marketplace-style selling, Muse may fit better (where available).
• Can't show its browser yet. You approve from summaries.
• Same usage pool as Claude. Heavy monitoring burns chat allowance too.
• Want multi-Bot routines and Pages/Vault? Grok Bot (Premium $30+).
• Live in Gmail/Docs? Gemini Spark (Google AI Pro).
• Already on ChatGPT Pro? Dots.
• Long Excel/PowerPoint project handoff? Stay with Cowork, not Duet.

FAQ

Is Claude Duet free? No. The research preview is for Claude Pro and Max (US waitlist). There is no separate Duet fee stated; it shares Claude usage limits.
